First prize Chongming Island!

On the morning of August 14,2017,  we received good news that we won the international design competition for the Chongming Island in Shanghai.

The competition considers the making of a vision for the 120km long stretch of shore of the island. Important subjects of the assignment are developing a cycling and hiking route and implement touristic spots.

The important aspects of this ecological island so close to the centre of Shanghai we have emphasised in our design by making health, clean air, sustainability, sport and water storage important themes.

Our concept is enriching and defining the existing landscapes and realising good connections between the coastal routes and the back land. Aside of the infrastructure we have designed five important landscape nodes.

Niek Roozen was in China to present our master plan. The two other contestants were AECOM and Turenscape.
