The ‘Experimental Farm Haverkamp’ project was one of four winners of the Bread and Games design competition, held in the province of Gelderland, it is a prestigious competition organized by the Government Architect. The competition objective was to encourage the renewal of the countryside. On the 4th of July the submission won an amount of 25,000 euros to develop the plan.
The entry ’Experimental farm Haverkamp, mixed company for future farmers’ aimed at providing opportunities for young farmers whilst at the same time improving the beauty of the landscape. It is an alternative business plan that offers approximately 10 sustainable farmers the opportunity to experiment with future crops. The design proposal offered flexible leases and small living areas.
The future farmers help each other with a self-sufficient cycle and sharing of the land, facilities, machinery and services. The current farmer coordinates. The landscape designed is a framework of edible green with flexible space for various agricultural activities. The river landscape is even more beautiful with added biodiversity. This type of experimental farm has a local market and is suitable for court transformation in the vicinity of a city.
